Hi support, I’ve just updated an existing clone with a copy from a live site and since doing so the RAM usage on my server has shot up considerably. It was peaking at approx 10% before the clone update and now it is at a constant 70%.

Any ideas? Should I delete the clone and create a new one?

    Update to the above….

Have checked the server pmem usage again and it’s back to normal levels. It returned to normal about 6 hours post the clone site update. Is that normal behaviour?

    Hello,

if the RAM level was that high for such a long time even after the cloning or updating, it likely happened due to something else. It could also be that your server has difficulties to free up the memory just in time when the wp staging process is finished.

It’s expected that it goes up while cloning but it should not stick to that high level for that long when the cloning is done.

However, as long as it is back to normal it should be good.

@renehermi thanks for your reply. I checked the history of the server behaviour and there was no other examples of such pmem usage so I’m confident it was linked to the use of WP Staging but, as you said, perhaps just unable to free up memory once the process completed. All the best.
