Service unavailable

Same with me. I asked MailChimp to check and they say the API is not receiving requests. Previously this worked fine…

Can you please let us know the exact error? You can check it by going to the “MailChimp for WP > Others” page.

My problem is this:

MailChimp returned the following error:
Service Unavailable.

Status NOT CONNECTED

I have the following error(s) since the update.

The odd thing is, the subscription confirmation email still goes through afterwards.

For the MailChimp error, please follow the instructions on https://mc4wp.com/kb/solving-connectivity-issues/ in the advanced section to see if your server IP is blocked by MailChimp.com

Same problem here:

1. Was working perfectly for last 3 days.
2. This morning, stopped working, with same error msg as above: Service Unavailable, MailChimp API error: 503 Service Unavailable, Status NOT CONNECTED
3. Uninstalled plugin, and created a new form, based on the embedded Mailchimp code from mailchimp.com — that form works fine. Thus, I believe my ipaddress is not being blocked.
4. Re-installed plugin, same error as before.

This is garbage.

Most people here are complaining that the plugin worked for days, months, or years, and then all of a sudden, stopped working.

Mailchimp for WordPress response is garbage.

A. Check cURL — if the plugin was working for years, the cURL was fine. Unless you are suggesting that the hosting provider downgraded the cURL?

B. Check to see if blacklisted – Huh? Now I have to become some .ssh linux expert to figure this out? I spent all day trying to connect via .ssh to no avail. Sorry, we are not all redhat geeks.

C. Change our IP Address / hosting provider / Connect via VPN – What?

D. Just wait it out. Really? That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps it will work again tomorrow, then go down for another week, then work again, then go down.

Unfortunately, you have no answers that help real people. I have yet to see anybody actually recover from this problem, except for one person who said that it magically started working again.

Can you post real solutions from people who actually moved past this issue?

Other plug ins were not working with Mailchimp either. I tried two others, as I had just installed it. It is now working today, and I have to conclude that this was on Mailchimps side.

Please note that we are offering a free plugin & free support. There are many plugins you can use if you are not happy with our response. We are trying to help and there is no magic solution we can provide you. So being kind would be helpful. I understand not all are server experts but you can always contact your web host to run the SSH command.

Our plugin communicates with MailChimp.com. While for many hosts using an older version of cURL, the communication worked, but it can stop anytime. Secondly, the communication error with MailChimp.com is not always related to just 1 thing and hence we have steps to rule out things.

An issue like this is common on shared hosting where even if one of the users spams MailChimp.com, the entire server is blocked. The block is removed after a certain period of time when the spam activity is stopped. But this affects all websites hosted on the server that is blocked.
