    Hello,

We have a site using WC that sells training. So we only sell services. We sell to both individuals and organizations (BtB and BtC).

We are based in France. Regarding UE rules if we sell a service to a German individual we have to apply French VAT for example.
Each of our product is “virtual” and is ticked as “service” in your addition EU VAT product tab. But the fact is when someone enters a German address at checkout, the German VAT is applied instead of the French one.
I know I can modify in the Back-Office all the VAT for all UE country and put 20% (France’s VAT) but I was wondering if they were a better “one-click” more stable solution.

    Thanks for this great plugin.

The VAT calculation is handled entirely by WooCommerce. The EU VAT Assistant doesn’t decide which VAT applies to each client, nor it can alter how the VAT calculation is performed.

The “service” checkbox in the product options is just used to generate the VIES reports. It doesn’t affect any other element on the site, and doesn’t affect tax calculation either.

The only way to apply the correct VAT to each customer is what you already described: you must enter one row for each EU country, with the appropriate VAT rate (i.e. GB 20%, FR 20%, DE 19%, IE 23%, and so on). Then you will have to configure WooCommerce to calculate VAT based on customer’s country, and you will be ready to go.

The EU VAT Assistant can help with the configuration of the VAT rates. It provides a button that you can click and have all the EU VAT rates populated automatically (see screenshot: https://ps.w.org/woocommerce-eu-vat-assistant/assets/screenshot-9.png?rev=1066174). You will just have to review them, before saving the rates, to make sure that you are applying the correct one.
