    Hi there,

We are getting a “Sorry, your session expired” error when trying to checkout. BUT it seems to only affect mobile. We’ve isolated it to your plugin.

    Steps we took:

    • Turned on the staging environment and copied the site there for testing
    • Tried a different theme – the issue was still there
    • Deactivated all but the necessary plugins – the issue went away
    • Reactivated each plugin one at a time to find the “culprit”

We found that it’s the MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin. If you opt out/uncheck the box to sign-up during checkout, it throws the “session timed out” error. If you leave the checkbox checks/opt-in, the checkout processes normally.

I can provide you an admin user to access our test environment. Just let me know what email address.

    Hi @humanatv,

Thank you for providing such a detailed account of the issue you’re experiencing, and the steps you’ve taken to diagnose it. We appreciate the effort you’ve put into troubleshooting.

I have a few updates and suggestions for you:

    1. Reproduction of Error: We’ve taken the initiative to reproduce the error you described. On our end, when using the default WordPress theme and the latest version of the MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin, the checkout process worked as expected without any session errors. This indicates that there might be some theme-specific or site-specific factors at play.
    2. Theme Conflicts: Although you’ve tried a different theme and still encountered the issue, it’s possible that there might still be some conflicts or leftover settings from your primary theme that could be affecting the behavior of the plugin. To address this, we suggest following the WooCommerce guide on how to test for conflicts: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/. This guide will provide more comprehensive steps to ensure you’ve isolated all potential conflicts.
    3. Engage a Developer: If the issue persists after following the theme conflict resolution guide, it might be helpful to engage a third-party developer who can delve deeper into your site’s setup. Sometimes, certain server configurations, custom code snippets, or even browser-specific behaviors can introduce unexpected results.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance. Happy to help.

Hello and thank you for the detailed reply. To confirm, did you attempt to reproduce the error on MOBILE?

As a follow up, our primary theme is Avada (one of the most used WordPress themes). And the other theme we test against was Storefront (the free and suggested theme made by WooCommerce). If we’re running into the conflict on those two “widely used” themes, does that change the view of looking into this on your side?

We found that the conflict is likely between your plugin and this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/

We use that plugin to connect to our MC account and create a form that we can drop into a pop-up. When we have the MC4WP plugin deactivated and yours active, we’re able to checkout successfully.

    Hello @humanatv,

Upon setting up a fresh WordPress installation with only the mentioned plugins, we couldn’t replicate the error you’re facing. The issue might arise when that particular plugin interacts with other plugins or configurations specific to your store. It’s challenging to pinpoint the exact cause. In such cases, we suggest reaching out to a third-party developer for a deeper investigation. Please let us know if you need any further assistance, thanks again for reaching out.
