Session timeout erases text

  • WP has a session limit as well as my web host. Several times sessions have timed out I get the ‘session expired’ msg, and I’ve lost everything I was typing in a blog post I hadn’t yet saved or published. It also wipes out any autosaved versions of the post.

    I know there are ways to copy the text before trying to save, which would prevent losing the text. But there are times when I forget to do this & lose the post.

    Is there any plugin that autosaves locally to my desktop? Or any other functionality that would do this?

    I was looking at autosave plugins and is it possible that the Classic Editor (which I use) no longer has an autosave feature? I know it used to. Was it discontinued? Gutenberg apparently does. But I don’t use it.
