Set a static home page and have a blog page with posts

But, now I have another problem. I have two “Home” pages on my navigation. How do I get rid of the second one? Also, my Blog tab for navigation is at the end. How can I move it up to the second?

Find the function in your header.php for wp_list_pages()…

You need to adjust that area, more on that function here.

Find the area in your theme that has..
wp_list_pages()
NOTE: Most likely header.php

Copy and paste the code from about 4 lines above to about 4 lines below where you find wp_list_pages here (inside backticks – or use a pastebin / https://wordpress.pastebin.com) and i’ll help you… ??

Remove
<li class="page_item <?php if ( is_home() ) { ?>current_page_item<?php } ?>">"><?php _e('Home', 'elegant-grunge') ?>

You can always add it back if that doesn’t have the desired effect.. (should do though)

Unless i’m missing something it looks your code above is actually missing some HTML…

So if you prefer, you could try this..

<div id="menu">
      <ul>
            <?php wp_list_pages('title_li=&depth=1'); ?>
      </ul>
      <div class="clear"></div>
</div>

The wp_list_pages() function will create <li> elements, so it makes sense you should have opening and closing list elements (UL or OL)..

I noticed however that under the text that I’ve added to my page I get auto generated text saying ‘Edit this entry’ underneath. How do I remove this from my static pages?

If you can’t find a relevant thread though, you’re looking for something along these lines, in either index.php or single.php .. (i think) ..

Hi Again!
When I take the strip of code out, I lose the first Home link in the upper Navbar. The second Home link is 2nd from last, and I want to take that one out. OR I could take the first one out and move the other one up. Whichever is easier.
Any ideas?

Are you wanting to rearrange the order of your menu links? You can do that with the My Page Order plugin https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/my-page-order/
