Set featured image as default social media sharing image

    Hi

    We want to set the featured image on all of our products to be the default sharing image on social media.

    We don’t want to set this image manually on every product we have (we have thousands!). It would take too much time.

    How can we make Yoast use the featured image by default?

    By default, Yoast SEO will automatically use the product/featured image as the social open graph image when you have the featured/product image set for the WooCommerce products.

    Thanks for replying.

    However, this is not always true on my page.

    If no social image is set in the yoast settings at the product, sometimes the image shown on facebook is the one I set as default image at SEO -> Social -> Default settings. Even when the product has a featured image.

    Thanks for your confirmation. When you set an image on the Yoast SEO social (tab) that appears on the meta box, it is indeed going to override the featured image as you’re specifically setting up an image for Facebook.

    So, if you’d like to have the featured image as the social open graph image, you will need to skip adding an image specific for Facebook using the Yoast SEO meta box social (tab).

    I think you misunderstand me.

    I am talking about the image on the “Social” settings of Yoast… Accounts / Facebook / Twitter / Interests. I have set an image there, on the facebook tab. This image is the one that gets shared if I share a product on Facebook. However, I want the featured image of the product to be shared by default.

    How can this be achieved?

    The priority that is used for the social preview image is the following:

      ? If there is no image set for the Yoast meta box for Facebook, it will use the post’s featured image
      ? If there’s no featured image in the post, it uses the default image set in SEO > Social > Facebook
      ? If there’s no default image set, it will use one of the images from the post itself

    So if you want an image to be used other than these in terms of priority it would need to be manually done with a developer filter.

    This issue is not resolved. I have same problem. Plugin support did not understand and did not answer OP.

    I have a similiar issue.
    Featured images are being displayed if there is one. But

    ? If there’s no featured image in the post, it uses the default image set in SEO > Social > Facebook

    I am not able to save a default image here for the case the post or page does not have a featured image.

    I select an image and click “save changes” and after a seond or two the default image is being removed and the browser tab just says “The form contains 1 error”.

    Any idea what I can do or check?

    Maybe I have just overseen it yesterday, or it’s new. But there IS an additional error message coming up on the page. It says:

    “/wp-content/uploads/image_for_SocialMedia.jpg does not seem to be a valid url. Please correct.”

    What can I do here?

    I am not able to add https://www.myproject-url.com/
    in front of the image url coming from the media library manually.
