Set order numbers for old orders and then change it for new orders?

I want to create custom order numbers for existing orders using their original order number ID. For example, to add year like #1234 becomes “2022-1234”.
After I create those order numbers, I want to change the prefix again for new orders so they become “2023-1235” and so on.
Using the free plugin, the little help text for the prefix says “this will change the prefix for all existing orders”. So I’m afraid if I rename all the orders with 2022 and then change the prefix, it will simply rename all the orders again to 2023.

Is there a way have my old orders with prefix 2022 and new orders prefix 2023?
Also, I’d like my old orders to keep their original order IDs, but for new orders, I’d like to switch to sequence starting with 1, so “2023-1”.

The reason for all this is because I want last year’s orders named different than this year’s orders. Is that possible?
