Hi. I’m currently running a web hosted multisite (sub-directory) for my portfolio site (mysite.com). The site is live, I would like to create a stage (test) environment for further customization without touching what’s live right now.

    1. What do you guys think is the best procedure here?
    2. What are the implications of creating an addon domain (stage.mysite.com) for testing?
    3. What alternatives do you recommend?
    4. What documentations do you suggest me to read?
    5. How easy would it be to migrate/move the content of the stage environment to live without compromising permalinks, etc?
    6. Thank you for your support.

    Regards
    A.

  • I do most of my development in localhost using a WAMP or LAMP setup. Is that an option for you?

    Kjodle, thanks.
Unfortunately local host is not an option unless it is more practical and convenient (time, efforts, etc) than running a stage environment online.

Is that the case? If so, could you please assist?
    Thank you for your support.

    Mika, thank you.
I have a 2 live WP Multisite (subdiretory) root installation on a lixux server. Two domains: .org and .com.

I was thinking to install WP on local in 2 separate folders:

    C:\xampp\htdocs\mysite-org
    C:\xampp\htdocs\mysite-com

    Is this best practice?
What are the implications (eg links not working) of moving live-to-local then loal-to-live?

    Thank you for your support.
