I have been using a custom domain on blogger for about three years. I am now building my www.ads-software.com site and plan to move that custom domain over to wordpress and keep my old blogger blog up using the default blogspot.com url.

The focus of my website has really changed and I don’t want to move all of my blog posts over to my new site, but I also don’t want to break all of the backlinks I’ve created and cause a bunch of errors. My question is this:

Is it possible to set up custom redirects from my custom domain to my blogspot.com url so that people who have already linked to posts I’ve created do not get broken links when they try to visit those pages. I’d like to do this without importing my blogger blog to my new wordpress site if at all possible.

  • Yeah, you can redirect any link going to your domain using .htaccess rewrite rules over to blogspot.com.

    Here’s an example:

    redirect 301 /2015/05/05/some-blog-post/ https://blogger.com/whatever/some-blog-post/

Have one line for each post.

Sorry, I am a bit of a beginner. Where would I enter the redirects for the posts I want to redirect?

The .htaccess file in your domain’s/blog’s root folder on your webhost. Would need to use an FTP program or webhost’s File Manager to access/edit the file.
