Set up custom url & sites' dashboard is now a 404 page

Yes it is https://www.utahlibertylaw.COM I just left the .com off by accident on here.

I’m using multisite and I mapped that old url to give the site its own custom url.

I’m confused…

https://www.utahlibertylaw.com/utahlibertylaw was mapped to https://www.utahlibertylaw.com

That’s mapping it to itself. Which isn’t right.

Where was the MAIN WP install? Is utahlibertylaw a subsite?

Sorry somehow i messed that up. It was sitting at
https://www.Connect4WebDesign.com/utahlibertylaw

and then I mapped it to

https://www.utahlibertylaw.com

The website transferred over fine for the most part with the exception of a few url’s that weren’t exact matches. However, the dashboard which was sitting at

https://www.Connect4WebDesign.com/utahlibertylaw/wp-admin/

is now at https://www.utahlibertylaw.com/utahlibertylaw/www/wp-admin/

I don’t know why wp changed it to that. I thought it would have changed it to

https://www.utahlibertylaw/wp-admin/ but either way I can’t access it.

https://connect4webdesign.com/utahlibertylaw/ is a 404. Did you Move the install or map it? Those are different things. Mapping it means you had Multisite, and just mapped the domain to point to the subsite utahlibertylaw.

It sounds like this is a second install…

If you mapped it, then connect4webdesign.com/utahlibertylaw/ would redirect (that is, after all, how the mapping plugin works).

How did you map? Did you install the Multisite domain mapping plugin?

I used the plugin. The funny thing is that the site works, but the dashboards don’t.

You did something wrong… connect4webdesign.com/utahlibertylaw/ should redirect you to utahlibertylaw.com

You didn’t change anything in site settings, right? You just added the plugin and mapped the one domain?

As far as I know I didn’t change any settings, but since it isn’t working I’m guessing that I had to have changed something to mess it up.

What are the settings on the network page? THere are five options, which did you check?

And did you set it up as an IP or a CNAME?

An A record. Could that be the issue?

You need to enter the Ip of the master site OR the CNAME of it.

And you still didn’t mention which of the options you checked. You can just list which numbers you checked.

Just did a new install for the site and gave up on the multisite.
