Set up RSS Feed for Private Posts – Possible?

  • I am trying to figure out if it’s possible to set up an RSS feed for a category that consists entirely of posts set to Private status.

    So far the RSS feed for the private category stays blank, even when viewing the feed in a browser where I’m logged in and authenticated as a user who is permitted to view Private posts.

    Does anyone know of any workarounds or plug-ins?

    I found the Private Feed Keys plug-in, but it says it works up to 3.1.4 and seems to be intended only for multisite installations.

    p.s. the goal here is for registered users to be notified when there is a new post. If I can’t get RSS working, then a plug-in which allows the blog owner to email registered users such as Email Users could be a workaround. Open to other suggestions.
