    Hi, @benfranklin,

    The only reason for this behaviour is historical. When i first implemented username tracking, i don’t think that Matomo (Piwik, at the time) supported a UserID.

    A few months ago, when i last updated the plugin, i noticed the existence of that variable. No one had complained about this, so i decided to postpone improving this feature. Now that you bring up the subject, it may finally be time to fix it.

    Expect a new version of the plugin in a week or so, perhaps sooner. I will let you know just as soon as i publish the update.

    Kind regards,
    @sergiorcs82

    Well, yeah, they behave differently though. You should study and test it since it might impact existing users to switch. UserIDs force new visit sessions. CustomVariables seem to be “less strict” and will use the ConfigID as a fallback ID method more often.

    Hi, @benfranklin,

    I just wanted to let you know i haven’t forgotten about your question/request. I simply haven’t yet had the time to look into this – and, regretfully, i don’t think i will be able to address this before 28 January.

    Rest assured this is among the top priority tasks on my to do list, so i do still plan to address the issue as soon as possible.
    Thank you for your patience.

    Happy new year.

    Warm regards,
    @sergiorcs82

    Hi, @benfranklin,

    I am happy to inform you that i have finally found the time to implement your request. I have just published a new version (1.1.2).

    As usual, i did my best to test the modifications, but i would be glad if you could give me your feedback too.

    You will need to adjust one (new) setting on the Dashboard before you see a difference in the tracking code. This was purposely done to avoid surprises to current users of the plugin, upon updating.

    Best regards,
    @sergiorcs82
