• I know its possible to set a different template for pages, but when I’m writing a blog post, it doesn’t give me the option to choose a template other than single.php.

Is it possible to have a different template for blog articles?

  • Based on category you have different single templates by using this plugin:

i have like 30 categories tho, that all need 2 use the same template… so as per guff’s plugin, i’d have to make 30 templates that all look the same?…

here’s hoping someone can suggest an easier alternative

30 out of … how many?

i’ll probably have about 40 categories in all… 30 of them will need the single.php to display in a certain way, and the balance will have a different template…

ideally, you know when there are existing alternate templates, and you create a new page, there’s a drop down 2 choose the template..? i need something like that for the blog articles too…

Set the 30 to the default single.php and then use the plugin mentioned above for the remaining few?

As I read the instructions: if there is no spec. template defined for a single cat – it will fall back to the default “single.php”.
