    Hello,

I’m using the WP Mail SMTP plugin for my WordPress website, and everything works like a charm. However, I would like to know how I can set the maximum number of email to send per hour in WP Mail SMTP. In my case, I would like to set this limit to 200 e-mails per hour. Other plugins have a setting for limiting the number of e-mails per hour and postponing them when possible.

Is it possible? And if no, why not?

I am also aware that other providers can let you send a higher number of e-mails per hour than what I have. But using another service than what I have is out of the question.

    Best regards.

    Hi @respinffs,

Thanks for reaching out! The email sending limit is determined by the mailer that you have configured on your site (or the email service provider that you’re using), and we don’t control it through the WP Mail SMTP plugin.

If you’re using the Gmail mailer, you can see its limitations from this link.

The email sending limit of an Office365 account is 10,000 emails per day and 30 emails per minute as you can see here.

According to your monthly email sending requirements, I would suggest you select a mailer of your choice.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

    Hello @darshanaw,

    Thank you for your answer.

I’m aware that the email sending limit is determined by the mailer that I have configured on my site. However, WP Mail SMTP ignores this limit and notifies me that there were SMTP errors, which turns out to be about exceeding the limit upon inspection.

Therefore I wonder if it would be possible for WP Mail SMTP to be explicitly aware of a set limit and to have a waiting list in order to send e-mails without triggering any errors.

    Best regards.

    Hey @respinffs,

Currently, WP Mail SMTP does not have a built-in method of limiting the number of emails sent, or knowing of any limitations already put in place. It has to attempt to send a message to trigger the limit warning from your SMTP host.

I do agree that it would be helpful if the plugin could be made aware of these limits and only send when the limit is lifted. I’ve made a note of the feature request and we’ll keep it on our radar as we plan out our roadmap for the future.

I apologize again that we can’t provide what you’re looking for right now, but I appreciate the suggestion! It’s always helpful to get insights from our users.

    Have a great day!

You can use simple email queue plugin.

    Hey there,
I’m having the same issue but its saying i exceed the limit at 25 emails per day. I use office 365 with gmail but none of their limits are that small so what’s restricting it from sending?

I reached out to godaddy who hosts the office 365 package for custom email and they said it’s anything of theirs restricting it. Gmail allows for much more so how do i get the limit above 25/day?

Lots of days emails arent working because of exceeding this limit.
