    Hi,
First I had only a german page with a page called “DE” as start page.

Then I installed polylang, crerated a page called “EN” and every thing worked.

For any reason I needed to create the german Start page again.

Now I have DE and EN, each as translation from the other one.

But now it is not possible to set DE as start page (static page, homepage) again, with reason:

“Die gew?hlte statische Startseite muss in alle Sprachen übersetzt werden.”

(The selected static start page must be translated into all languages.)

BUT: there are only two languages and the page, with have to be start page IS translated (to all available languages, exatly 1 beside german)

What can I do ? I don’t want to create everything again …

Now I found the reason for the problem: the EN page was not created by Polylang, insteasd of it with “Duplicate page” Plugin. For all other pages it’s not a problem, because the link to other language links to start page. But Start page MUST be created using polylang.

    Hello,

I just had the excact same problem but what excactly do you
mean by “MUST be created using polylang.” How do you do that?
Do you mean using Divi and if so can i clone a page?
    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers,

    Found it!

It indeed just has to be made using divi or at least not by the duplicator.
Thanks for the help! i would’nt have found it otherwise.

I used “Duplicate Page”, but the EN start page needs to be created with polylang. You need to click on the “+” in the “english” column and it needs to build it again (in my case with “yootheme page builder”) from zero ??

I see, Just encounterd it myself it indeed needs to be made using the “+” for english. But it seems i could still just duplicate it using divi. I don’t know how it works for yootheme tho :/ sorry.

Just a quick different question, I have been looking for it for a while now but i still cant seem to find how to automatically translate my pages. Do you know how? On a guid it told me to “go to: Languages > Strings translations and translate all the stuff that you need to.” but i can’t find where or how ?? . If you by any chance know that would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

my word press installation suggests to use Plugin “Lingotek” for automatic translation. But I fear, it’s not for free ??

Polylang is only for creating pages in different languages with the possibility to switch to the “same” page in another language (for example “About us” > “über uns” instead of > Startseite (de)). But you need to fill in the translated texts by yourself. As translation tool I suggest deepl.com. It translates great.
