Wordpress and Polylang don’t play well together when it comes to setting the default home page and blog post page in the WP settings. (https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/creating-a-static-front-page/)

Insofar that the administrator intuitively goes through all the languages and tries to set a new homepage in all three languages to the correct translated pages. However setting these options in subsequently in different languages deletes the formerly chosen value.

The workaround for this is to set the default static home page and blog post page only in one language. It will work also in other languages as Polylang appears to be able to locate the translations thereafter.

The desired behaviour would be that polylang would not allow the user to set these settings in different languages or at least, if the user does so, doesnt reset the options.

    Hello,

You just need to set one static front page. It must be translated in all languages. Once you have selected one page as static front page, Polylang will automatically use the translations for the other languages.

As a complementary note, don’t play with the admin language filter for this setting as it could indeed make you believe that the setting has been reset when it’s not the case.

    Hi Chouby,

thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it didn’t work.
I had set a static frontpage for german, but polylang doesn’t seem to choose the spanish transaltion as spanish frontpage.
i tried to set both frontpages in each language, but this didn’t work too.

Thanks for the hint with the admin language filter. I will keep it in mind. So far i didn’t change anything there.

Do you maybe have any other suggestion?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

is it maybe possible/helpfull to delete the spanish language and set it up again?

Or to delete the plugin completely and just set it up new?

I think the problem appeared after changing the menü and arranging the single pages in a new order…

I really would be thankful to get a hint.

    Thanks!
