setting stronghold feature image to full screen width

hello. new to wordpress and I am finding it great but there is one thing I am really struggling to find a solution to.
in the stronghold theme you can set a full width feature image on the “home page” but for the life of me I cant get it to be any bigger than around 200-300px wide.
some direction to achieve this would be much appreciated.
