Setting the from field to the sender’s email

  • Hi,

    Right now the emails I’m getting have my site’s email in the from field: https://i.ibb.co/2cQrZzL/email-contact-form-7.png

    The issue I have with that is when somebody sends spam, I can’t mark the email as spam because I’d be marking my own email as the spammer.

    I need to put the sender’s email in the from field. Is there a way to change this behavior? This is my setup in the contact form right now: https://i.ibb.co/tXMzRtX/contact-form-7.png

    I’m already using an anti spam plugin, but there are some emails that bypass the plugin and I get spam anyway.

  • You must blacklist your email from being able to send emails from the contact form, because a simple way to get around spam checks is to use the admin’s e-mail address! ??

    Hi Erik. Thanks, that makes sense.

    In the CF7 docs they recommend using the Disallowed Comment Keys section. Is that what you mean?

    Disallowed list is quite simple to use; just log-into the WordPress admin screen, move to the menu Settings > Discussion, and then you’ll find the Disallowed Comment Keys section in the middle of the screen.

    use your admin email, let me know if it has solved!

    I added my email to the list then tested the contact form using another email unrelated to my site, but I keep getting emails with my own address in the from field: https://i.ibb.co/bN0zBLd/cf7-email-test.png

    So this would be impossible to mark as spam in my email reader application.
