• I am attempting to set up a wordpress, and I use canaca as my server, but I can’t complete step two of the instalation process, because I don’t know how to set a database with MySQL. It says, “Click the Home icon in the upper left to return to the main page, then click Privileges. If a user relating to WordPress does not already exist in the list of users, create one: 1. Click Add a new User,” but I don’t have the “privileges” option on the canaca homepage. I did create a database, but I don’t know how to put my wordpress on it.

  • I don’t know what “canaca” is, but from your description, i’m getting that it’s your webhost. You *should* have something in your webhost’s control panel that allows you to create a database. For example, my host uses Cpanel, and I just basically clieck “create a database” and it asks me to name it…then i have to assign a user to it and set a password. Then I take all that info and enter it intot he configuration file for WordPress, upload, and run the installation file. that’s all there is to it.

If the “privileges” option isn’t there, then are you using a server that has MySQL available to you? Some accounts with hosts don’t include MySQL unless you pay extra for it.

Yes I am sorry I should have said that. It is my webhost. I did create a database, and I entered all of that into my wpconfig, but I can’t figure out how to run the instalation file now. I know MySQL is available, but I just don’t know how to install my wordpress onto my database. When I asked my question I thought that was because I was doing something wrong with the mysql.

Also, I have a website running right now on the site, but I made a file called old site and put it in there. Do you think that could be what is messing me up?

It depends where your installation is? In the root of the site or in a subdirectory?
