• I am not your most tech savy person… but I’m here and I am persistent hoping to be up and running.

I created my WP Blog, and I am using IPage to host my acct/site. But I am way over my head… lost in something call a Dashboard ?? I am basically setting up different pages in my website . The home page is suppose to be my about me welcome page. Then I added another page title Blog which is where I intend to blog at. then I created and added another page titled Guide-How to, where I plan to provide step by step instructions on different arts and crafts. and last but not least I added a page for recipes.

Problem is: How do I blog under these pages? and now my about me page content is gone.
I been trying for days to customize my site but I keep getting lost and frustrated.

It would be so nice If I personally knew someone who know how to work with WP, or if I can get someone to help me.

~Sincerely: Lost in the Dashboard Soul

    Hey there!

Thank you so much for replying

@ Elan, I did look into the trash folder, I saw the pages and I clicked restore… but the content was wiped from there as well *sigh* so… dunno..

@TCBarret, Thank so much for the link… I am immersing myself reading through it all, even the things I had already figured out. Just in case.

Now, Question: Is it possible to have my website with different pages and add content to each one of those pages like individual posts?

Here is the link to my blog page https://www.midwestcountrychic.com/

I had a very good intro that I really liked… and now is gone… so there is just a random post in there for the time being. But if you notice my page layout ( I am not focused on the appereance of the page yet… first I want to get it going so I can add content in the right places) Anyhow… I have different pages tabs. Home, Blog, Guide-How to, and Recipes.

What I am trying to do is have the ‘Home Page’ be my welcome page that visitors see when they first visit my site. I want to have a picture and a quick intro ( which is what I had before it vanished )
and then under the Blog Page… thats the page I want to blog from, posting several individual post under that tab/page.
The Guide how to… is where I want to also provide with tutorial for my stuff… different tutorials different post.

same with the recipe page. Now I have the vision, the idea in my head… Now the challenge is…. Am I ever going to be ready for this?

Sounds like you want to create a static front page

Hey there, so i’m reading through this now. it’s a lot to take in but you are right on. it is exactly what i’m looking for. It is a lot to tackle on my own but nonetheless I will at least try. I’m assuming I could at least come back with questions…?

    Thanks

I’ll be darn ?? I did all that already? Hehe. I must admit I’m pretty proud of myself.

Now, I would like to figure out how to get ride of the the ‘leave a coment’ on the static page. I dontreally want /care for any coments to be left there. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Kat

The default setting for comments is in the discussion settings screen
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Settings_Discussion_Screen

To change it on an individual page/post bases, go to the admin screen for that page/post and set it in the discussion meta box. If you don’t see the meta box, reveal it via the Screen Options tab (top right hand corner).

:/ still trying figure out how to get ride of the the ‘leave a comment’ on the static page. but I did managed to make a custom banner for my blog ??

Also, I through my web hosting acct… activated site lock…. and is now giving me this HTML code to add to my site… but I dont know how to do that either… looked briefly through the Codex… will try again after I get out of classes today. I talked to tech support and they told me I needed access to my WP Index page/ and I needed to add the HTML code to some tags or somewhere in order for me to be able to display the graphic on the site.

Also, on the footer area… eventually on every single page and at the end on every single post I wanted to display a message that says all content copyright..blah blah blah ( which I have a message like that on display… but not exactly where I wanted it to be display… ?? )

Ok, so I know this is a long list of my to do task…. and am not really expecting you to help me through all of this… but hopefully whoever reads it can make suggestions… meantime i’ll read through codex.
