setting up ".org" BUT having ".com" issues

  • I have gone round and round – by now, I am so confused. I want the “.org” . I have installed it on my webhost (dreamhost) and changed the nameservers as well, now its saying: xxxx.wordpress.com is no longer available??? But I don’t want this, I want “xxxx.org” Self hosted! What have I done! PLEASE HELP

    “.com” is coming up when I want “.org”

    Yes! My intention was to start a self hosted blog. I use Dreamhost and have installed WP for “keokeafarms.com” domain as well as changed the nameservers. For some reason, it produces an error having to do with the “.com” version and I am SO confused!!!

    When did you make the name server changes? Were you aware that it can take up to 72 hours for the changes to fully propagate? If in doubt, contact Dreamhost and ask them to check your changes for you.

    I am aware, but the error that pops up when you type my domain url in, isn’t related. I am going to wait and try again! Thanks!!! ALOHA

    It came up with an install page but when i type the url into another tab, it takes me here: “keokeafarms.wordpress.com is no longer available.”

    I suggest you complete this form immediately so you don’t get locked out of your site (I could fill out the form, put in a password, and have total administrative control of your site – not good!)

    I did, Roaming Pro. I am in the dashboard now. But typing it into another tab produces an error AGAIN ??

    https://keokeafarms.com/wp-admin/ and everything https://keokeafarms.com/ related seems to be loading.

    If you go to https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/www.keokeafarms.com you can see the status of your DNS being deployed across the world. Right now, it’s all pointing to the same IP (208.113.173.36) which is good ?? That’s where you are on DreamHost. There may still be odd moments for the next few hours, where it shows the old WPCOM stuff, but that will work out as all the DNS ‘phone books’ on the planet get updated.
