Hi there, I have another question related to using multiple series and the redirect option.

I initially only had one feed with all my episodes. I added a new series and then releazed all the episodes in the new series were showing up in main feed also. So I set up 2 series, 1 containing the original series and 1 containing the new series.

I’m having trouble understanding what I also need to do to get people who are subscribed to my podcast to have their URLS point to the new feed for the original series since I don’t want to use the default feed which contains all the episodes of both series. I’ve done the following…

    1. I updated the URL in iTunes to point to the new series feed.
    2. I used the Redirection option on the main feed to point to the series feed for the original series.

Do I need to do anything else? I’m unclear as to what the redirect does and what happens after the 48 hours mentioned on the redirect page. Can I eventually remove that redirect since everyone will now be using the new feed for the original series?

Thanks again for the great plugin!

iTunes has (in the last little while) made some changes to how they handle redirects, but everything you’ve done should sort things out for you. The redirect will force iTunes to only fetch the new feed instead of the old one, so once you have had it in place for a week or so then you can remove it if you like (although there’s no need to do so and it’s probably safer to just leave it in place).

    Cheers,
    Hugh
