    Hi there,

I’m attempting to set up Google Site Kit on a headless WordPress site and encountered the error described here in the Site Kit documentation. I understand from the documentation that this error is likely due to the headless architecture of the site.

    Questions:

    1. Is there an alternative method or workaround that allows Site Kit setup on a headless site?
    2. Can I authenticate or verify ownership using a method similar to Google Analytics (e.g., a meta tag) or any other alternative approach?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi @kreppar, thanks for your question about setting up Site Kit with your headless environment. Unfortunately, we don’t provide support for headless setups. You will find some insights in a previously closed?GitHub issue?related to this and why we don’t support this. SO there is no workaround for this at this time.

With regards to authenticating or verifying ownership of your site, there are a number of ways you can do this which are listed in this Search Console guide.

I hope this helps to answer your questions but let me know if there is anything else I can help you with on the Site Kit side of things.

Thanks for the quick response, Adam. It’s a shame that with the growing number of headless sites out there, there isn’t a way to set up this great plugin. I mentioned ownership verification as I thought that might be the main hurdle preventing the plugin’s use in a headless environment.

@kreppar No problem and it’s certainly something I will raise with the team to see if it’s something we can look into again at a later date. Is there anything else I can help you with?

No, that’s all from my side. I’ll go ahead and close the tickets. Thanks
