Setting up wordpress on clients server?

My dad asked me to build a website for his company (just a flat site with a few pages) and I had heard wordpress was easy to use so I said i’d try it.

His company has a server and hosting, which i think i have access to, I am working ona mac and have installed MAMP and its working, but when it comes to creating databases and putting wordpress folders onto servers i’m completely lost.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
