    Hey!

Every time after making the update to this plugin, there is a notice on the dashboard, asking me to review my settings. This is annoying and make me unsure if using this plugin is safe and stable.

I’m fine with it if there is an important change to make to the settings to notify my.

    Greetings

  • I agree, it’s just one additional click I have to do, so I’d prefer to see a notice only in case something in the plugin’s settings has actually changed.

    Hello everybody,

an additional click is not necessary if the notice appears. It will just show up once, if you continue working it will also disappear without checking the settings.

Experience shows, that a lot of circumstances may require to check the current settings (e.g., several caching solutions). This is why a lot of users want to get informed if the plugin is updated, so they can check their current configuration.

I can’t promise an update won’t bring any side effects to all possible configurations (WordPress, Piwik, WP-Piwik, several other plugins, caching, …), so I prefer to ask the user to check his settings once in a while. (Ok, I know, there were a lot of updated within the last weeks, this will lower again the next time.)

With the next update I can offer you an expert setting to suppress the notices in several “verbose levels” (e.g., don’t show, only show if an update script is performed, show every time the plugin is updated).

With 1.0.2 you can go to Settings -> WP-Piwik -> Expert settings and choose between three notification levels:

    1. Always show a notification if WP-Piwik is updated. (Default)
    2. Only show a notification if a WP-Piwik update script is executed (i.e., settings were changed by the update process).
    3. Never show a notification.

If you like to test WP-Piwik 1.0.2, feel free to download it now:

The official release will be this evening and may contain some updated language files.
