    No idea why, but my installation of wp mail smtp (current version) would not allow me to update values for settings (api keys, sending domains)

    even using the permanent delete settings on install function, then reinstalling, the same old values would pre populate the settings page.

    i have had to switch to fluent smtp.

    even stranger i couldnt find the values in the wp database, so god knows where they were coming from!

    Thanks for reaching out to us and we’re sorry to hear about that very strange issue.

    I noticed that you mentioned that you switched to another SMTP plugin already, but if you’d ever like assistance with resolving this issue, please let us know so that we can investigate this.

    Note this isn’t a common issue, so we suspect that there is most likely a DB issue/corruption that caused this in the first place.

    thanks for the reply. if you are able to outline which tables can be deleted to permanent uninstall the plugin, i’ll try to re install from scratch. thank you.

    Thanks for getting back to us.

    Before going that route, I reached out to our developers and we’d like to confirm if you are using any caching plugins with “Object Caching” enable. If not, can you confirm if your website host has Object Caching enabled?

    We ask because resolving the root of the problem would be the ideal course of action over deleting every instance of wp_mail_smtp in your DB.

    If we don’t resolve the root problem, once you set new values, those will just be stuck there going forward.

    redis in installed on the server but the wp isn’t using it. i don’t have other problems. maybe i’ll try it again and see but equally i think it should be easy enough for a user to know which db table you store the data in

    Thanks for getting back to us.

    That really is strange. When we’ve seen this before it was a caching issue, but just in case the manual deletion does the trick.

    Please delete all options with “option_name” that start with “wp_mail_smtp” in the “wp_options” table.

    Also, these are the tables added by the the Lite version of WP Mail SMTP:

    • wpmailsmtp_tasks_meta
    • wpmailsmtp_debug_events

    In addition to my previous message, I would recommend restarting the PHP service after the cleanup. It should invalidate all cache and potentially resolve the issue for you.

    thank you. must say i’m very impressed with the quality of this support for a free version. certainly makes me more like to try again and probably go pro with wp mail smtp.
