Settings – Remove File Writing Permissions does not work

  • After spending most of today getting a site back up and running after updating to 4.0.16 (thank you Brian at Bluehost for great support and assistance), I now notice that none of my sites that have v 4.xx have the correct permissions for .htaccess and wp-config.php files. iThemes Security does not seem to change the permissions regardless of whether this setting is checked or not. The files stay writable and do not get set to 444 as they should.

    Would be interested if anyone else has this issue?

    I have reported it as a bug to iThemes.

  • David, I am experiencing the same thing and have found a few other posts indicating we’re not alone. I also submitted a bug report a few weeks ago. Best, -Tracy
