Settings screen causes timeout and site crash

Hello. This plugin works great on the front end but trying to access the plugin’s Settings via the admin area causes our site to hang for a few minutes and then give a 504 gateway timeout error and then we need to restart our server. This happens both on our live site and staging site. Thanks so much if you have any ideas as to why this might be happening.
