    Hello there!

    I am using your plugin for 10 days now and everything was working fine.

    For the last two days, everything is still ok on the front end, but in the WP admin panel, in the plugin settings, there are only 3 tabs displayed:
    – Setup
    – Retrieved data
    – About

    I’m also getting an error message:
    “Error: Unknown — Please check Retreived data to find out more information.”

    And the Retrieved data tab is displaying that message:

    {
       "html_attributions" : [],
       "status" : "NOT_FOUND"
    }

    Thanks for your support.
    Philippe

    I understand and I thank you again.

    An archived copy of the reviews is not really good as I am collecting new reviews once a month at least.

    I do not understand why my Place ID is not good for Google as it is Google who is providing it… when I check that link, with the current data-pid, the reviews are well displayed in GMB: https://search.google.com/local/reviews?placeid=ChIJY-iGu7dv5kcRCpZDFDDZba8

    I assume the change Google did with my GMB address from a physical address to an area might put some disorder, but in that case I should have a new Place ID, which is not the case, that one is still the same for a long time.

    @philos1964 Strangely, there is a clue of this issue in one of the pages I checked. Here you can see the heading “But sometimes it just doesn’t work.” and looking down is a business (Road Side Electric Co) with a region showing rather than a single location.

    You can still use links to Google for visitors to read existing reviews there and for customers to leave their own reviews. But, this doesn’t cover the API requests. The use of HTML inspector method implies that the standard Place ID finder failed. It may have failed for the reason that Google doesn’t supply data for that Place ID.

    I am at a bit of a loss about a sustainable way around the lack of data. Retrieving data using the Google API is at the core of its functionality.

    I could extend the manual HTML import process and I may do this in the future if people are interested.

    @philos1964 Version 2.9 is now available to download. This version handles lack of new data more gracefully, but essentially the plugin stops being useful when it can no longer get new data from Google.

    I confirm that the plugin does refuse to connect anymore ??

    Unfortunately, for me, I can not find my GMB via the Place ID finder… I did before when I had a street address.

    I did write to Google support to ask about that, I will keep you posted.

    I thank you for your support, I appreciate it.

    @philos1964 Thank you very much for taking the time to write your posts and for inquiring with Google about their change of policy.

    Hello there!

    @designextreme So, I got an answer for the GMB technical support (the french one).

    The answer is (more or less because of the translation):
    “I confirm that your customers’ reviews are related to your listing on Google My Business. We are unable to display them on your website.”

    I confirm that I did write a full text explaining my problem, and not asking for Google to display the reviews on my website, but really why it is possible to display the reviews from a physical address and not from an area of service.

    So I have explained the personn from the support that he is wrong and gave him a few links to read…

    I’m a little bit disappointed…

    @philos1964 This is the answer from Google about not providing API support for Places that are coverage areas/regions?

    That’s pretty vague. They are no explaining why the API data has stopped (not found) for these places.

    I was thinking about a possible way forward, ask them to move your reviews from the area to a specific location (with a new or existing Place ID) and then you can continue using the area in your business listing but without reviews attached.

    Or – is your reply relating to what you’ve told someone else (e.g. a client)?

    Nope, this is the reply from the GMB technical support about the API not working anymore after I switch from a specific location to a service area.

    And yes, it is pretty vague, in fact the personn does not answer my question.
