Settings:Reading Static Page & Theme Home

I want to REMOVE recent posts being listed on the static page (home), tried to customize in the theme and then tried again in:

Settings > Reading
Section: Front page displays
When selecting “Static Page” the (Front page) drop down gives me all the pages I have created but the theme’s home page is not listed. So the only option reverts to “Your latest posts” which I do not want.
