Setting up a website for a client (not my website).

1)Woocommerce payments setup requires me to log into MY WordPress account. WHY?
2)Does my client need a WordPress account? They do not understand or want a WordPress account!

Hi @beezeeb – Sorry for the delay here! WooCommerce Payments requires connecting a WordPress.com account to connect to the WooCommerce Payments servers, as described in our docs: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/payments/faq/wordpress-com-account/

Either you would need to login to your account, or as I would suggest, talk to your client about why it’s required. There are no other charges associated with having a WordPress.com account, so the implications are very low.

Reading further it appears that WooCommerce Payments does not work with my clients PayPal account. My client would also need a Stripe account?

WooCommerce Payments is specifically a Stripe integration.
If you’d like to integrate PayPal I would suggest checking out PayPal Payments: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-paypal-payments/

Sorry but given the PayPal plugin hasn’t been updated (3 months) and tested with the latest WordPress release, and it’s extremely poor ratings, no thank you.

I’ve had to set this to Solved since we’re no longer discussing WooCommerce Payments, though I am curious about where you’re seeing your last statement.

The PayPal Payments plugin has zero ratings (due to how new it is to the marketplace) and has been updated just this month, as you can see here:

If you have any further questions about the PayPal Payments plugin you can find support for that here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-paypal-payments/

    Thanks!
