• Hi – well done on the plugin. Much better than other options we have looked at.

Couple question having tested out a few things:

    1. We cannot select some of the product pages that we have on our site, for targetting purposes. When we do a search for them they do not appear in the drop down field (even though a lot of other pages are there). In the free version, do you limit this functionality to not show all our product pages?

    2. In the “frequency” section where you can choose how many times the popup is shown to users, we can select “Do not show more than 2 times per day” for example. How then do you show the popup to the user? Do you show it twice in quick succession, as soon as the user loads 2 pages, or do you wait a certain amount of time before showing it a second time to them?

    Thank you

    1. Brave only displays the latest 300 products on both free and pro version to reduce memory usage. But this can be overridden with a custom code. Let us know if you have more than 300 products.

    2. Its shown twice in quick succession.

Many thanks for the very quick reply and information.

We will let you know if we need a snippet to show more than the first 300 products, but maybe best we find a workaround to avoid extra memory usage (ie the paid version where we can select custom URLS).

Feature request – It would be really helpful if you could add “hour” to the frequency options, so you can state “Do not show more than once per hour” for example. That would make this setting much more valuable.

There is another popup plugin which gives quite a lot of freedon in this area, so just that small update would be a big plus ??

In the next version of the plugin,

    1. We will add a proper search which will search through all the products, not just from the already loaded ones.
    2. Add 1/6/12 hours option in the frequency settings.

Can you kindly let us know the name of the plugin?

    Thanks

That’s great news. You will know the other plugin I imagine (Popup Maker). It’s certainly not as smooth, user friendly and modern as your plugin, and has more limitations than your plugin from my perspective, but you can be more specific on determining when the next popup should display once it is closed. If you implement what you suggested, you will have it covered ??

Just a quick point – one issue in the past with popup plugins is memory usage and increasing page load times. Would be very much appreicated if your team can keep that in mind ??

@dav74 Brave uses very little memory.

The plugin is built with performance in mind. Every feature we add, we make sure the performance is not impacted.

You can test the plugin and will notice it doesn’t take much memory and does not slow down page load speed.

Many thanks for that link. Great to see it’s something you pay proper attention to ??

If you are adding those features in the next update for frequency settings, it would be really good if you can also add:

    5/15/30 minute options

The minute options I think are quite important, as you want to often get a popup to not appear more than every X minutes for example, for targetting someone who is really browsing your website. The minute option would really help here (that was one of the benefits of the other plugin that you could stipulate “minutes” in the frequency options).

    @dav74

You can already do that from the Trigger section’s “Time Spent” setting.

Yes but that doesn’t quite have the same logic ie – if you want a popup to show every 5 or 10 minutes to a user whilst they browse your site, I do not think that is posible right now. It would be if you added the minutes thing I suggested

At the moment you can delay the popup from initiating the first time, but not ensure 1 popup is served every 10 minutes… if that makes sense.

Sorry to let you know it won’t work even if we add the minutes settings in the frequency option. Because once the popup is closed, the frequency setting will apply on next page load only.

You are probably trying to creating a repeating notification like Notification X or something similar. You cannot currently do that with Brave. We will have to add a separate option for this. If its feasible we will add this in future.

    Thanks & Regards

Thanks for explaining that. Actually the only thing I want to do is to create a pause of about 5-15 minutes for example, before our popup is displayed again to the user (after they have closed it once). Once they close it twice then we will not show it again. Sometimes people close popups the first time by mistake as a reflex, so we would like it to come back after about 5-15 minutes if they are still browsing the site.

Users tend to browse pages very quickly on our site (product navigation) so it is absolutely no problem that the frequency setting only loads on the next page load.

Hopefully that makes more sense. Anyhow, all looks very good with the plugin in any case!

@dav74 Very sorry for the late reply. In the latest version we added 3 new options 6, 12 hours and a “Session”. The session option lets you display the popup only for that current browser session. When the user leaves your site, and come backs again at a later time, the session starts again.

If that doesn’t serve the purpose, we will try to add minutes close time settings in future.

    (@dav74)

That’s very good of you being so proactive.

To be honest without the minutes option, I am not sure how we would achieve the following scenario:

Show a popup twice within the space of 10 minutes (10 minutes between showing it the first time and last time), whilst the user is browsing through various pages of the website.

Showing a popup twice in consecutive page loads does not do the same thing, and is for many users rather irritating (especially if you browse product pages quickly which you often do). That’s why being able to set a certain amount of minutes before showing the popup again is quite important.

Anyhow, well done on the advances in any case ??

    Plugin Author Brave

    (@getbrave)

    @dav74 Understandable.

But if you set the frequency setting to lets say closes 2 times in 10 minutes, visitors have to close the popup every 10 minutes. Won’t that be annoying?

    Thread Starter dav74

    (@dav74)

The objective is just to be able to set a reasonable gap of 10/15/30 minutes for example, between popup viewings. I think the most annoying popups for users are when they close them, and they open straight away on the next page reload (it basically tells the user that their action was not listened to).

However from a site owner perspective, you want to be able to ensure the user has seen your popup (sometimes popups are closed by mistake). So you want to trigger the popup to open a final time (for example) maybe 15 minutes later after closing the first popup.

This is a happy medium, ensuring customers are not annoyed with the popup, but see the message.

    Plugin Author Brave

    (@getbrave)

Ok. In that case, we will have to add a totally new child option under the first frequency option which will let users set a delay time before the popup appears on subsequent pages.

We will see if we can squeeze this in the next version.

    Thanks for the Suggestion.
