• I have seven domains each with their own seperate content and each with their own WP installations and was wondering if it is possible to use only one WP installation for all of them… solely for the purpose of cutting down the time it takes to update each installation with plugin updates or WP upgrades.

I’d still want them all to be seperate as far as content and themes go, but it would be super nice to control the backend from one primary location.

    Make sense??

    Is it possible?

  • See Installing Multiple Blogs for some of the options available to you. Each will have their own quirks and limitations.

    Thanks for the link!!

If you want a way to see all your blogs at once but don’t want to disturb their singularity, why don’t you try one of the offline blog tools such as Zempt or w.bloggar. I believe they have the capability of displaying all your blogs so you can post to anyone or all during one session. Mind you, I haven’t used either one of these products in about a year, and the last one I used, Zempt, did let me access all my blogs (MT, Blogger and WP – I have testbeds that’s why the multiple apps) from one console.

joni, a quick run-through at Zempt doesn’t show that it actually works with WP; in fact the last post about the possibility is back in Oct. 2003….

Unfortunate, really, because otherwise it looks pretty good! How did you install it and so on to get it to work with WP?

Zempt kind of works with WordPress if you select Movable Type as you blogging tool. It is dog slow and often crashes at the end for me. I stay away from it. None of the tools are good in this space.

Thanks angsuman – I was afraid of that sort of experience! I’ll give it a pass for now….

Your better bet is for w.bloggar. It works with WP a bit better. I was using Zempt with WP back during the 2003 Blogathon and I believe I was running Wp Wuh-Wuh back then. It worked fine, but as was mentioned, tended to crash a bit. In fact, if you go to my blog (https://babygotblog.com) and search under the Blogathon category, you’ll see my frustrated posts where I was using Zempt.

I did visit the w.bloggar site and it looks to support virtually every blogging app out there, but to what degree I don’t know. I just think that whatever you may have to do to get either w.bloggar or Zempt to work for you cannot be as hard as trying to juggle all those installs.

And I thought **I** was a domain horder! ha ha!
