Several blogs based on one core WP installation

  • I’ve read everything I can find on this subject, but am still not sure whether whether this is possible:

    I’d like to run several blogs (each in its own directory) off one core installation of the main WP files. Can that be done? I’ve read the the Multiple Blogs Through Multiple Installs at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_Multiple_Blogs but that seems to imply that the whole WP software has to be copied into each new blog’s folder. I just don’t want to take up space with multiple WP installations if it can be avoided.

    Grateful for thoughts.

    No, it can’t. WordPress was not designed for it, though the request has come up many times, and the developers are certainly planning on adding this in an upcoming version.
