Although the plugin seems to be well designed, I have several issues:

Tried it w/WP Super Cache and Amazon S3/Cloudfront

    1) The plugin places an impossible to remove link back to the author’s website in my main menu. This is unacceptable.

    2) Upon plugin deletion database tables are left behind: bhn_file and bhn_setting

    3) During a short trial, I found that changes made to my child theme style.css were not syncd and did not appear even after deleting cache and toggling include CSS in the settings menu.

    4) There is no documentation.

Besides the above, the plugin does seem to work.

I’m gonna try just one more time, because I don’t think you listened to my first reaction.

When I installed the plugin it created a menu item on my main (top) menu called “Joomla Cloud”. I have a carefully crafted top menu and header. That menu item not only destroyed my header layout, but created an unacceptable billboard linking back to you which I could not modify or remove.

I suggested before a footer link, “Optimized by…” would be acceptable, but do you really expect me to test the plugin with real world traffic with my layout completely destroyed?

I have used many plugins that simply specify the link may be removed upon payment. That’s reasonable and has often led me to purchase the “premium” version.

If you want to simply distribute a premium only plugin why not just put it on Code Canyon?

    Thanks!

    Hi fwunder,

I can understand your frustration, I would probably feel the same if I were you and that happened to me, but that was not our intention to destroy your theme, but it seems what is happening in your particular situation is that there is no footer menu on your website and that is what blue hat turbo looks for… it looks for the last menu on your website, hoping that it picks something thats in the footer because most website usually have a footer menu on their website that displays links terms, privacy policy, stuff like that, so that is where we intended the link to end up because we thought it would be better than having a random link that is loosely appended to the footer of your page, which can sometimes stick out like a thorn and really make your site ugly, so that was the mentality behind that. In your specific case, are you saying that if the link was loosely appended to the footer of your page then you would be okay with it?

it is not our intention to distribute a premium only plugin. We want to provide our software extension with ALL the features included for free. Thats what we want, because we want you to get maximum performance, so you can experience for yourself firsthand that blue hat turbo is one of the top CDN turbo charging plugins right now, and it would be a shame to hinder the features in the free version over a little link.

“…are you saying that if the link was loosely appended to the footer of your page then you would be okay with it?…”

We must be having a language problem. ??

I’m pretty sure that’s what zappyone and I have both been suggesting. Even better, because I know you believe in and trust the WordPress community would be to simply specify a footer link just like “Powered by WordPress” cannot be removed without purchase.

    Hope that helps.

our intention is to create the best supercharging plugin we can possibly create with out senior developers 20+ years experience and give it away for free, that is our intention here, and in exchange we just want some credit, or a small nominal one-time fee of $22. Thats all we are asking. You are free to use the software extension with ANY of the bundled CDNs for yourself. You dont have to use with our CDN. We will give you ALL that plus ALL the features for free. Now whether the credit link bothers you or not, you always have the option to upgrade. That seems like a pretty good deal to me.

well, I guess we might be having a communication issue unfortunately, but I guess it is out of our hands now anyway because now it is in Esmi’s hands actually and the wordpress community. If the wordpress community contacts us and asks us to take out the link, then we will be forced to also have to take out most of the powerful features in the free version to offset the price loss there, but if they DONT contact us, then we will leave the plugin as is and everyone can continue to enjoy the benefits of ALL features bundled in the plugin, so i don’t know the fate of the plugin and the free version really lays in Esmi’s hands here and the rest of the wordpress community to figure it out, because if they ask us to take it out, then that is what will happen unfortunately, most of the powerful features in the free version will go with it ??

Anyway, best of luck to you all. I hope you all find what you are looking for and that I have answered all your questions. Again, it is our intention to provide a quality extension. You are welcome to use it or you are welcome to obviously explore other options. All I can tell you is, the people who ARE using the plugin, are going to continue to enjoying the benefits, now whether you choose to also get on that happy wagon or not, that is a decision you will have to make. I can sit here all day and tell you how much hard work we have put into this plugin, but at the end of the day, it seems you already have your mind made up no matter what I say, so, I guess we’ll just leave it to the community and Esmi ??

    Thank you.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I should know better than to do this but now you just pissed me off.

The statement you made above reveals that you expect people will either use your software without giving you credit or paying you for it. So, basically, you do not trust the open source community. Sounds like you function within very closed society. That’s too bad.

    That’s just plain wrong.

    See ya…

I did not mean to offend you in my response. That was not my intention, but to address your allegations about our contributions to the opensource community, we do care about the opensource community and that is why we created a turbo charger plugin that does more than any other plugin out there and then we decided to give it away for free, and alot of people were enjoying that, but now, because of a few people who complained over $22 ruined it for everyone else who was just fine with the original deal. Now we will have to take out the features and comply so its a loss for everyone and we can all thank you and your friends who decided to chime in for it. Thank you guys, for ruining the free version of Blue Hat Turbo. Thank you.

If anyone ever asks what ever happened to the free version of Blue Hat Turbo, we can come back and say fwunder was a disgruntled user who didnt understand the concept of paying to have the credit link removed, so therefore we had to remove half the beneficial features in the free version, so now the people who can’t afford to pay $22 can thank you as well.

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

Now because of you, half the features of blue hat turbo in the free version will be gone and you ARE upset??? and frustrated?? YOU JUST RUINED BLUE HAT TURBO FREE VERSION FOR THE WHOLE WORDPRESS COMMUNITY because you didnt want to pay $22 to upgrade and you dont want to give no credit back to the author. You just want to take the plugin for free and take it and be upset about it too huh???

    Plugin Author Blue Hat Network

    (@bluehatnetwork)

You are completely oblivious to other peoples hard work and compensation. This was a benefit for the community and people who couldnt afford to pay $22 and now you’ve completely ruined it for all of them because now they all have to pay $22 if they want to have the fastest website in order to compete with their bigger competitors who may be using the full version which offers the full features. You are only thinking about yourself.

I’m closing this topic as this stopped being productive many posts ago. Before I do I just want to point out something.

@bluehatnetwork? I’m not part of the plugin team but I am guessing that your plugin was removed from the repository pending your compliance with the guidelines as Esmi already said.

    10. The plugin must not embed external links on the public site (like a “powered by” link) without explicitly asking the user’s permission. Any such options in the plugin must default to NOT show the link.

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/about/guidelines/

That a guess on my part as I’ve not looked at your plugin nor am I part of that (really hard working) team. But those links must default to being off and that’s something that really is easy for any plugin author to resolve quickly.

That’s not Esmi who decides that and blaming one moderator, the community or even the original poster for your plugin not complying with the requirements here isn’t helpful or useful.

You don’t have to host your plugin in the repo. But if you do then that plugin has to comply with the requirements to be hosted on the repo.

You are completely oblivious to other peoples hard work and compensation. This was a benefit for the community and people who couldnt afford to pay $22 and now you’ve completely ruined it for all of them

Can I suggest that you may want to cool off and take a break? That’s not what happened at all and if your plugin complies then it will get put back in the repo.

If you don’t want to comply with the guidelines then there is nothing preventing you from hosting that plugin somewhere else.
