Very new to WC Vendors, so kindly assist in clarifying my questions, and please state if your reply applies to both free and pro versions:

    1) with wc vendors, will vendors have access to the admin dashboard (where they can of course cause havoc should they want to), and if yes, is there a way to prevent them from accessing the admin dashboard?

    2) who creates the categories – the site admin or the vendors?

    3) who creates the products – the site admin or the vendors?

    thank you.

  • Hi,

Let me clear your concerns and I am starting from last –

    1. Yes Vendors can create their own Products but you may control vendor capabilities to restrict this and and also wheather they can publish their products or not!!

    2. Only Admin have the power to create Categories

    3. Vendor have to access wp-admin panel to create their Products.

Just to mention, if you go with frontend manager plugins like “WC Frontend Manager” then you may block your Vendors to access admin panel and Vendors will have power to manager their whole store from site frontend, no more wp-admin.

    Thank You

    Hello @manoman,
    1. Vendors only have permission to access the functions that they need in the back-end admin area. Listing products, viewing their own orders and changing shop settings. They do NOT have permission to access other areas of the admin. You can further restrict their access by using a plugin such as adminimize if needed. Their role, vendor, does not have admin role privileges so they cannot wreck havoc on your website with admin permissions.

    2. Admin creates the categories for the site- vendors cannot create categories.

    3. Both admin and vendors can create products. Vendors can create products listings, and admin can as well, and also admin can create & assign products to a vendor if you want that control over your site and the products.

Let us know if we can help further.
    Thank you!

NOTE: I do not know anything about the plugin WC Frontend Manager that WC Lovers mentioned. We do not write that plugin. We do write WC Vendors and WC Vendors Pro, and with Pro your vendors can manage their stores, settings and orders completely from the front end and no longer need access to the wp admin. https://www.wcvendors.com/product/wc-vendors-pro/

    Hello Anna,

Can the vendors change the status of their orders to “Completed”? Or that only is something the admins can do? Thank you.

PS: Suppose you vendor are facing the order of a virtual product with an offline gateway, which only you can confirm.
