• Hi Guys,
I just wanted to confirm that the SG Migrator Tool does, in fact, leave the original installation on the originating host. I thought I already knew this, then started to migrate a website that I do not yet have access to the domain DNS records. I had a mini-panic attack that the client website would go down until I could point to the new host and wait for propagation.
Fortunately for me, the website appears to be still up on the existing host (whew). During my panic, I could not find anything about this in the documentation or forums. I thought I would ask about it here so others can feel re-assured.

The other consideration, of course, is that once the testing of the migrated website installation has been tested (the plugin provides the temporary link for this) and you have pointed the dns records to the new host, AFTER IT HAS PROPAGATED – the original installation can be safely removed. I thought this part also worth mentioning. If this is already documented, could you please provide a link to it please. Thank you. Warm Regards, Patrick

    Hey @roes99

Correct, our plugin doesn’t move your existing site but create a copy on our server.

We do this because sometimes, the migration process may not run smoothly, and if we delete your existing site, you will end up with a broken website on our hosting.

Thanks for the review, we will update the plugin documentation soon.

    Regards,
    Stanimir
