    Hello,

I’m a Siteground hosting customer, with SG Optimizer on my site.

We started seeing an issue where no images (thumbnails) were appearing. After turning plugins on and off, we contacted the theme developer for the site, telling them that we thought that two of their plugins were creating the issue, OptionTree and Cactus Rating (a plugin that comes with the Cactusthemes theme).

They replied that it was not these plugins, but SG Optimizer that was blocking the images.

We looked at the site on our computers using multiple browsers, and the theme developer looked at it on their own computers. The results are the same – no images displayed.

When we deactivate SG Optimizer, the images appear again.

Our site’s WordPress and theme are up to date.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Note – the page I need help with now shows images – because SG Optimizer is deactivated.

The theme developer is waiting for us to provide an answer from Siteground about SG Optimizer plugin and why it might cause images to not display.

Can someone get back to me? Thanks! ??

The theme developer reported the following issue:

When SG Optimizer is activated, the images will not be loaded correctly. For example, an image address directs to this url:?
    data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7?

    The correct url should be:?
    https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image.jpeg?

    Hey @commontater

This is expected behaviour, when the lazy load images is enabled. The image src is replaced with the following placeholder data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

When the page is fully loaded the placeholder is replaced with the original image src.

I’ve disabled the Image optimization and the images are ok now.

I will check you theme to find what cause the issue.

Please check your site as I’ve activated the plugin.

    Regards,
    Stanimir

    Hello Stanimir,

With the image optimization for new images “off” and lazy loading “on, the images are appearing on the site.

Please tell me what you discover after you look at the theme, and we will reply to the theme developer with your comments.

    Thanks! ??

The problem is that your theme has Lazy Load functionality. We’ve disabled it and now everything works just fine. Please, make sure that you don’t double optimization techniques since that would most likely cause problems.
