I use a plugin that uploads files to its own directory in /wp-content/uploads. The SG Optimizer plugin does not seem to be optimizing images located in that directory and its subdirectories.

I am uploading many 12MB to 25MB image files, and the website is displaying those large file size images on the front end. Is there a way to tell the SG Optimizer plugin to look at that folder?

    Hi @sstoqnov

    https://www.davidrothblum.com AND https://www.probateandtrustpro.com

Folder is called WPL and there are subfolders in that folder with images

In those subfolders are the original 12MB-25MB image files and also versions of those images with various image sizes, which also have smaller file sizes. But the original images are what the website is displaying.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that SG Optimizer would reduce the original image file size rather than create multiple image sizes, which WordPress seems to already be doing.

    Thanks!

    Hey @fsr76

This is not a custom WP uploads folder, but a custom folder, that you have created/uploaded.

We don’t optimize anything outside the default uploads folder. In your case, this is the default folder ( wp-content/uploads ). Even if there are images in this folder, we optimize the one uploaded via the WordPress media uploader of via the page editor.

If you want to change the default folder, you should define a constant where you set your new folder.

You can read more about this here: https://davidwalsh.name/wordpress-upload

Interesting how that works. It would be nice to be able to specify additional folders to be optimized in the SG Optimizer media settings.
