Share by email button does nothing

Email sharing is only available if you are using the Akismet spam-filtering plugin to prevent spam abuse or if you explicitly enable it by adding the following to your functions.php file or a functionality plugin:

add_filter( 'sharing_services_email', '__return_true' );

We have Akismet enabled and it seems to be working correctly.

We have also tried the code in our theme’s functions.php, but it has not fixed the share by email issue.

Does it work if Jetpack and Akismet are the only active plugins?

No. We have disabled all plugins except for Jetpack and Akisment on our staging site and the email button still does nothing.

The staging environment is the same as production.

i click it, add an email address, and the little ‘thinking’ circle simply keeps going

@mikehermary On the staging site can you try using a default theme like Twenty-TwentyOne just to see if that makes any difference? Since the sharing popup isn’t being triggered at all, it would seem that something is conflicting, and you’ve already tried with plugins disabled.
