• I switched to this plugin because my old sharing plugin doesn’t want to update to give an option for share counts now that you need to make a FB app. I have one and it works, I show no errors when I use the debugger and everything is set up right.

All of my counts showed up as soon as I installed your plug in. A day later they have all disappeared. What should I do? I’ve checked in other browsers, run Facebook Debug and cleared the catch. They really aren’t showing up.

So this morning the counts were there. But as soon as I edited a page the counts disappeared there and everywhere else. I’m wondering if it has something to do with cloudflare, but that doesn’t seem to make sense. If they were cached the count would just stay the same not disappear. I had that issue once a long time ago.

I can see the share counts at the web page you have posted here. See the screenshot https://imgur.com/jf9hFLl
FYI, Facebook has imposed a limit on the number of API requests that could be made within a certain time-interval. You would like to check in the Facebook app dashboard if the app is reaching the request limit. If it’s happening, you would like to save a higher share count cache refresh time in the Miscellaneous section. More details on how this works at the link https://support.heateor.com/why-is-share-count-not-getting-updated/

I’ll try that. Yes the FB APP is saying “We will unblock your rate limit in 17 mins” so that is probably it. I had it set to 1 hour though, your default is much less than that.
It seems like the APP is making way more calls then necessary, is it updating site wide? We have hundreds of pages that don’t get visited in your average month. It should just make the call when someone does visit.

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, share icons make calls for the shares only when the cached shares have been expired and if someone visits a web page. If you still face the issue, you can try increasing the share count cache refresh time even more.
