Shared images gone from WPMU

  • Hi,

    I do not know if your plugin is responsible. I have used it before without issue. I would like your input, if anything sounds familiar.

    My students pulled up my site in class – I noticed the Posts’ images were missing. Hours later, at home, I pulled up my site:
    – A message appeared above the theme, in big theme font, as the page loaded. I don’t know what it said, but there were long-past 2014 dates and times like 12:00.

    Problem:
    – The shared images have disappeared from WPMU site. (My primary site, “toni-two”, is where I uploaded them to.) I mean that the shared images are missing from the Media Library, the Posts, the Post Edit field, Header.
    – Images are present in wp-content/uploads.

    – Other images that I uploaded to a subsite, named “test”, are present in “test” Media Library and work properly.

    Notes:
    – I have WPMU 4.0 – a fresh install, a couple plus weeks old.
    – I have 3 sites: Primary “toni-two”, a “test” site, and one site I don’t use images in yet.

    Any insight would be valuable.
    – I have to put the images back – but I do not want this to happen again, or at least understand what happened as best as possible.
    – Currently I am not tech-experienced. Absolute Nil on anything to do with databases.

    UPDATE

    I restored a backup. The images are in place on the website. But there are no images in the Media Library.

    Hi,

    Sorry to read about your missing images.

    Are the images also missing in the primary sites media browser? Then that’s an issue with WordPress and your backup. Did you also restore the database? WordPress keeps the files on disk but stores a lot of information in the database about the images.

    Once the images appear in the primary sites media browser, they should also appear in the other sites using NSM.
