Shared login accounts and 2FA with 1Password

    How do we setup WordFence’s 2FA in the instance where the user account is shared (for example, an agency user account)? We have attempted to do this with 1Password OTP (https://support.1password.com/one-time-passwords/) and it doesn’t work.

    Error (in WordFence 2FA set up screen):

    Error Activating 2FA

    The code provided does not match the expected value. Please verify that the time on your authenticator device is correct and that this server’s time is correct.

    We are definitely using the correct code shown in 1Password. Can someone please assist?

    Hello @boostit and thanks for reaching out to us!

    Is this issue happening to just one person or are multiple people having the same issue? It could either be a time issues on someones device, the server/site, or another plugin on the site causing a conflict with 2FA. I have personally set up a few of these with 1Pass and usually its a time issue.

    A diagnostic might help me check the server for times or plugin conflicts.

    Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    My apologies – I didn’t answer your question. 2FA is working with Google Authenticator. I have only tried one account with 1Password OTP which didn’t work (tried multiple times) – that account is used by multiple people.
