sharethis and German data privacy laws

  • Hi Overthere,
    I’m using the Sharethis for WordPress Plugin on a site.

    Because of changes in german law Facebook and Twitters original share buttons are deemed illegal due to their behavior of transmitting user-connected information to FB and Twitter simply by loading a page and without the users explicit consent.

    Are you aware of this ? Does the technical behavior apply to Sharethis also? If so are you planning to adapt Sharethis to the legal situation in Germany? Short reply would be great.

    There’s a solution from german computer magazine c’t called Shariff, but I’d like to circumvent replacing ShareThis if possible.
