• Sharing buttons above content stay even when the slider is moved to turn them off…so have had to deactivate plugin entirely.

Had planned to at least use the “Sharing Sidebar” feature and briefly tried the buttons above the content, but they were appearing on ALL my category pages despite choosing the “posts” option only.

So I turneed off the “Sharing Buttons Above Content” entirely to get them off my category pages with plans to just use the sidebar buttons, but the buttons are STILL appearing on my category pages even with the “Sharing Buttons Above Content” turned off.

I’m deactivating this plugin and will be removing it.

    Hi BNOTP.

    I can understand your frustration.

WordPress caching plugins can sometimes create these sorts of situations, or just standard browser caching. Visiting your site in an incognito window would eliminate browser caching. We can’t control those two possibilities, but aside from them, sharing buttons shouldn’t stay visible above your content after you’ve disabled them.

One other thing to note is that if you’re in AddThis mode, it can take 5 to 10 seconds for your saved changes on AddThis.com to show up on your site.

Unfortunately, without a URL to test this on that’s having the issue, there’s nothing for us to actually look into.

You can see it here: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/recipes-2/

Try any of the category pages and you can see it. I won’t be able to leave it activated very long, though since it looks like this.

Even after deactivating the plugin and leaving it deactivated for around an hours, as soon as I activate the plugin, the buttons appear again on my category pages, despite the “above content” feature being turned off.

I tried clearing my browser and that didn’t work.

Hi Susan. Thanks for the info.

I can see the sharing buttons on your category pages. I haven’t seen that happen before when the settings have them disabled. Your theme might be doing something unusual. If you’d like to email us a copy of your theme at [email protected], we can look into this further and try to determine why this is happening.

I am having the same issue as Julka.

Just this week (I can’t recall if the plugin updated this week)in addition to the sidebar (which I love and want on the site) the share button above content on pages is showing up. It was not showing up last week.

I have cleared my cache, tried looking at the site incognito and those suggestions do not help. I waited 24 hours and the issue still occurs.

The sharing buttons appear on pages above content (not the home page) and on the posts. It is undesirable to have these buttons above the content and the side bar is the way we want to go.

    We’ve released 5.0.10 moments ago.

One of the bugs we’ve seen in 5.0.9 is that some of the AddThis settings checkboxes get unchecked from time to time, and some other settings are cleared as well. After updating to the 5.0.10 version of the plugin, please review your AddThis plugin’s settings and confirm that they are as you intended them to be.

We are continuing to monitor the situation. Please let us know here or at [email protected] whether you’re still experiencing this issue after installing 5.0.10 and checking your settings.

I have updated to version 5.0.11 today. I opened an incognito tab and the undesired share this buttons above the content of my pages is still showing up. I checked the settings and they are set to have only the left side bar on but I get more than I want.

Just wanted you to know the issue has not been resolved by the update.

    Hi Matathiasa

I don’t see any inline sharing buttons on https://tikvatisrael.org

I do see some on https://tikvatisrael.org/about/

Is this second page one where you didn’t intend to have inline sharing buttons?

I also noticed that you have a plugin called WP-Super-Cache running. I’m not familiar with that specific button, but it kinda sounds like a plugin that would keep an older version of your pages around to reduce the load on your server. Have you tried clearing the cache within that plugin recently?

    Hi Julka,

The home page does not have the sharing buttons on the page above the text but all the subpages (like the https://tikvatisrael.org/about) do.

I have updated to version 5.0.12, cleared the super cache, gone in cognito and still when the setting are set to only have the left sidebar sharing buttons the page buttons still show up.

    The issue is not resolved.
