sharing_display_link & sharing_title

  • I am trying to use these ( new ) filters on custom post type archive pages on my local development site.

    Using sharing_display_link ( *1 *2 ) I can get the correct page to show when hovering over with a mouse but when clicked, it opens the whole page in a new window instead of the usual ‘sharing’ window I get on the other website pages…

    How are we supposed to use these new filters?

    I am using the All in One SEO plugin and I have activated the new Social Meta feature but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Neither does de-activating the whole plugin.

    Could you give me more details about what you’re trying to achieve? Are you trying to add sharing buttons to CPT archive pages, below each CPT entry?
    You shouldn’t need any extra code to do so; the buttons will be added to the bottom of the CPT entries if you’ve checked the Archive and CPT options in Settings > Sharing.

    Sorry for not being clearer.

    I am trying to link to the actual archive pages ( venue and gigs cpts ) and not link to individual entries. I remove content/excerpt filters at the top of the template then try to re-add at the bottom.

    With the default settings the shared link is unsurprisingly one of the previous excerpts not the archive page itself….

    I was trying to use sharing_display_link filter to point to a cpt archive page….

    From the comment on your bug report it doesn’t look like this is going to be possible in the near future?

    Is there any chance that this bug will be fixed soon as using Jetpack sharing on custom post type archives would be pretty useful….
