• Hi Paul

Big server issues on this tiny site with a few posts and pages and a handful only plugins.
    2016 theme even.
    plugins:
    AddFunc Head & Footer Code
    BackupBuddy
    Complete Analytics Optimization Suite (CAOS)
    Heartbeat Control
    Pretty Link Lite
    Very Simple Contact Form
    WP Rocket
    Yoast SEO

I don’t think any of my many other sites has so few plugins.
But now suddenly yours makes it a white wall of death on it and I assume only since a short while, as I fixed up all my sites 2 weeks ago.
all works till I activate yours. then permalinks stop working and only can see frontpage no other pages or posts or even admin login is ghastly milk white page.

I deleted yours and re-added it but to no avail. had to install wordfence.

Also on a few other websites, all of which use default WP themes, no more than 11 plugins and all uptodate. All worked in the past now all my little sites are screwed up and had to install wordfence just to get them live. Page load time for one like camillekleinman.com was with your plugin 30-60 seconds and loads of errors with your plugin. megabytes of it. And on all my sites I have your plugin since 1 year and all are ill with these wp-db.php line 1868

and often server issues – have 2 VPS with LiquidWeb and they do their best to help but I know now for sure it is Shield the cause of days of lost work to me and lost productivity and endless troubles fixing so many websites.

Used to be a perfect plugin but sadly I guess need Wordfence again as cannot have this going on, cannot visit all websites each day to see if a new update destroyed my sites.

2 visitors and my site goes down. Killometeres of error logs with stuff like:

If your database is timing out because of a site transient option load, then it’s not Shield that is causing the problem unfortunately. Loading transient options from the database isn’t much of an operation and is done all the time. This points to more systemic issues you’re having with the database.
The other simple package errors with the db point to this too.

From here I’m not sure what to suggest. That you’ve had the plugin for 1+ year without issues suggests that the plugin was fine until something changed recently. There haven’t been any major changes in Shield to warrant this sort of plugin behaviour.

If Wordfence works for you and your hosting environment, then that’s the one you should stick with. Sorry for the trouble you’ve had finding a security plugin for your site.

Hi Paul, will email you link to video – maybe helps find reason?

I have just released a bug fix version (5.5.4) that might just solve this problem for you.

If it can’t, please use the reset feature outlined here:
    https://icontrolwp.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/3000040181-how-to-reset-the-plugin-to-default-settings
Using this option will mean you’ll need to reconfigure the plugin, however.

    Thanks!

Thanks Paul for all your work on this issue and resolving it so fast, especially plugin is free. Can confirm now all is fine and plugin working as great as ever. Is my favorite way to protect my sites, eliminate comment spam and manage user sessions. Thanks.
