• Hi

I’m trying to create a website for our flower shop but am running in to some problems on the shipping end…

So we send plants over the country in boxes via carriers – this is not a problem as the shipping zone seems to be calculated based on the zipcode from BILLING details.

The problem occurs when we want to send flowers, bouquets within our town and closeby places. We want to allow users to send it within a certain set of zip codes and deny them if they order to someplace far away. This is DELIVERY zips. Someone from a faraway town can of course place the order.

I am able to limit the zips based on the BILLING zip – how do I change so it’s based on the DELIVERY zip? Preferrably when a certain productcategory is present in the cart.

Is there handy plugin for this?

    Thanks!

  • Hey there, @victorj1! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

Let me confirm if I understood your goal correctly:

    • You want to have one shipping method for when the order is to be delivered close by
    • And another one for when the order is to be delivered somewhere far

    Correct?

Can you please share some screenshots so we can take a look at your settings? I recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

    We need screenshots of:

    • WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping
    • WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Click on Edit on a Shipping Zone
    • WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Click on Edit on a Shipping Zone > Click on edit on each shipping method so we can check the specific settings
    • The cart/checkout page with the issue

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi!

Not quite. I know how to change the shipping cost depending on which zipcode the customer is buying from, that’s not a problem.

The problem is where a customer is placing an order from somewhere (let’s say Stockholm) to be delivered to someone in (let’s say Gothenburg). As a Florist this is most of our orders.

So if we set the zip code limit to only Gothenburg areas only customers within Gothenburg can send to other people in Gothenburg, which is not what I want.

It’s a bit hard to explain, but we sell both bouquets (delivered locally, from one person to another), and other products nation-wide (where people make the purchase for themselves).

As shipping zone is calculated on the zipcode gathered from BILLING fields, the restrictions with zipcode only works when people buy items for themselves.

Below is an example of our current checkout page where someone is ordering flowers to be delivered to someone else.

I hope this was not too convoluted… ??

    Hey, @victorj1!

As shipping zone is calculated on the zipcode gathered from BILLING fields

I just tested this on my website, and this was not how it worked.

I added a special shipping zone with only one zipcode

Then I made a purchase with a shipping address that used this zipcode and a billing address in a different state (so with a different zipcode)

And as you can see on the screenshot below, when I changed the zipcode on the shipping address it changed the shipping method:

If this is not how it is working on your end, please let us know so we can assist you further.

    Have a wonderful day!
