    Hello!

I’m having some trouble with shipping settings.

Issue 1. When an item is added to the cart, a ship-to location is automatically set to the state of Oklahoma (the state where my business is located). I would like that not to happen.

Issue 2. The ship-to address is staying from whatever previous address was used. I would like that not to happen.

    WooCommerce shipping settings:
Enable shipping calculator on the cart page – checked
Hide shipping costs until an address is entered – checked
Shipping destination: Default to customer billing address

I feel like maybe there are other settings causing these issues and I just can’t remember where to change them. Please help. Thank you!

  • I think you’re right that you’re missing some settings for the behavior you want.

Issue 1: Go WooCommerce -> Settings -> General Tab -> Default customer location and set it to “No location by default.”

I’m not sure about Issue 2. Is it possible that your browser is auto-filling those fields?

Yes! Issue #1 fixed! YAAAAY!!! Thank you!!! I’m glad that one was easy.

Issue #2: It is saving the address in all three different browsers I have (chrome, IE, and edge). It doesn’t save the address from browser type to browser type, though, so that’s good. I guess it’s not much of a big deal. I suppose it’s even a bit of a convenience to the customer that the website remembers the address that was last entered, but it just seems weird to me.

    Thanks for your help!

You’re welcome! I’m glad you got it working.

Yes, it looks like Issue #2 is the browsers’ auto-complete feature. It won’t be confusing to actual users since it will be their info that is used.

    Hi there,

WooCommerce wouldn’t store the address information from one user to the next. If this is occurring it’s either stored in the browser’s cache/auto-fill or the site is caching that information. If you’re using any caching plugins ( or if your host has them pre-installed) you’ll want to make sure that none of the checkout related pages are cached on the site.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
